RESCU

Hostel and sheltered employment for disabled

RESCU is a sheltered employment workshop and hostel for the vocational training of disabled persons in its community, RESCU was set up by a group of parents in the late 1970’s, at a time when there was a war in Zimbabwe.  At that time the employees mostly made aids such as wheelchairs and crutches for other disabled persons. The workshop is still operational although this is at a minimum at the moment and the hostel houses 13 men at present.  Our local partner liaises with RESCU and Jacaranda Trust.   RESCU stands for Rehabilitation, Employment, Skills and Crafts Unlimited.  It is our aim  to assist the workshop and the men in the hostel where we can.

In February 2010 Trustee Hilary Dowling visited the Michael Project, Borradaile Trust and RESCU and saw first hand the wonderful work they do. Read Hilary’s blog to find out more……..here
